Why choose us?
Our Vision
At Terrey Hills Public School, we are dedicated to delivering teaching practices grounded in evidence and proven to make the greatest impact on each child’s learning journey.
We believe that children are the future of humanity, and it is our profound responsibility to nurture them with care and intention.
We commit to:
- Providing every child with a safe, loving environment where they feel a true sense of belonging.
- Empowering students to develop their strengths, confidence, and resilience.
- Creating opportunities for freedom of choice and self-expression to nurture independence.
- Inspiring joy, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning in all aspects of school life.
- Ensuring every child has access to the resources and support necessary not only to survive but to thrive.
Our school values guide us in this mission:
- Respect: Honouring ourselves, each other, and our community.
- Responsibility: Taking ownership of our actions and our learning.
- Learning: Embracing challenges with curiosity and persistence to grow every day.
Together, we build a foundation of respect, responsibility, and learning that prepares our children to lead with compassion and capability in an ever-changing world.
Our Learning Programs
Our learning programs are diverse and engaging, offering students a rich variety of opportunities to explore their interests and develop new skills. These are just a few of the many exciting programs available to our students, ensuring everyone can find something that inspires and challenges them.
Environmental Education
As part of our Environmental Education Program at Terrey Hills students across all cohorts are actively engaging in habitat restoration activities to support native plants and animals on school grounds.
We are incredibly lucky to be the guardians of the critically endangered Grevillea Caleyi a shrub native to our local area.

Our dancers are to be commended for their dedication, enthusiasm and creativity.

Our Senior Choir took part in the Schools Spectacular area performance which brings together students from all over the state. You may have seen the spectacular show on television
Band
Our ensemble band continues to grow and thrive, showcasing the incredible talents of our students. At THPS, students have the wonderful opportunity to learn and master a variety of musical instruments, nurturing their creativity and passion for music.
Community Partnerships
At Terrey Hills Public School, strong community engagement is key to our success.
We have an active P&C who host fundraising events, discos, Mothers’ and Fathers’ Day celebrations, and BBQs to bring families and staff together.
Grandparents play a special role in enriching our community. Our Book Week and Education Week events highlight student achievements and the joy of learning. Join us in creating a welcoming, supportive environment where every child thrives.
Story Dogs Reading Program
The Story Dogs Reading Program at Terrey Hills Public School is a free, volunteer-run initiative where children read one-on-one to trained dogs and handlers. This calm, non-judgemental setting boosts reading confidence and fluency by making reading fun and stress-free.
Students read at their own pace, often using prompts like, “Elle doesn’t understand this page, can you tell her?” to encourage reading aloud, helping improve focus and literacy skills.
PSSA (Primary Schools Sporting Association)
Participating in Warringah PSSA allows students to develop essential skills, build confidence, and create lasting friendships while enjoying the thrill of friendly competition. With a diverse selection of sports to choose from, every child can find something they love, whether it’s soccer, netball, cricket, or more.
The supportive and inclusive environment ensures every student feels valued and motivated, making PSSA a highlight of the school experience.
Community Service
Each year, our Student Leaders proudly represent the school at ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day Services, honouring the bravery and sacrifice of those who served. Through heartfelt speeches, they share their personal reflections on the significance of these events, inspiring understanding and respect within the community. Their leadership and commitment help preserve the memory of our history, connecting past sacrifices to today’s values and ensuring these important traditions continue to inspire future generations.
Overnight trips to Canberra and the Great Aussie Bush Camp
Overnight trips to Canberra and the Great Aussie Bush Camp give students hands-on learning and fun experiences. In Canberra, they visit important places like the Australian War Memorial and Parliament House to learn about history and government. At the Bush Camp, they enjoy nature, team building activities, and outdoor skills.
These trips help students become more independent, confident, and make friends while learning in a new way. They create lasting memories and support personal growth.
School Sport
At Terrey Hills Public School our students participate in swimming carnivals, whole school athletics and cross country carnivals.
Students may then have the opportunity to represent their school at Zone carnivals. We have had many students represent Warringah at Area competitions.
Differentiated Project Based Learning
At Terrey Hills, project-based learning engages all students with real-world, meaningful tasks. It develops critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and responsibility. Integrating multiple subjects and using differentiated teaching supports diverse learners, helping every student build skills for lifelong learning.
