A year at our school -2026
FEBRUARY
Welcome Kindergarten 2026!
Our eldest students welcomed their Kindergarten buddies into our School community. Our littlest students have begun their learning journey and we are so excited to have them join our school family. We look forward to seeing all you achieve in your next 7 years.
What should we name our Kookaburra?
Our new mural by artist Robin Martin is almost finished. Our Kookaburra has been keeping a beady eye on our Year 5 students. Check him out next time you visit the office.
Year 5 Debating Workshop
On Tuesday, 7 of the year 5s participated in a debating workshop in the hall. Orson, Chloe, Scarlett, Elyse, Josh, Fletcher and Carys were the people who participated. We learnt how to win an argument, rebuttals and the steps of P.E.E.L (point, explain, example, link). We wrote debate speeches and rebuttals about whether we should get rid of uniforms. We played a few games as well. Tony, the guy who was teaching, kept telling us jokes. Debating was a funny and interesting experience.
Yr 3-6 Swimming Carnival
A heartfelt thank you to the entire team, especially Mrs Biefeld and Mrs Gaynor, for their fantastic organisation of the event. The day was perfect, with great weather and House Captains creating a vibrant carnival atmosphere. It was inspiring to see students not only encouraging one another but also challenging themselves to achieve their personal best.
We also extend our gratitude to the teachers and parent timekeepers for their valuable support and assistance throughout the day.
MARCH
The Minister's Student Council
Our School Captains Keeva & Lucas attended the Pittwater Network Student Council – DOVES forum on Monday.
They had an opportunity to provide feedback, share their opinions, ideas and concerns in regard to their education and schooling with primary and secondary students. Advocate for positive student engagement and inclusivity through means of educational improvement and innovation in NSW schools.
Zone Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to all our Terrey Hills Zone Swimming competitors who took part in the Warringah Zone Swimming Carnival last Friday! You swam your hardest, cheered each other on, and represented our school with great pride. Your teamwork and sportsmanship were outstanding.
SRC Assembly and Choir Performance
Our new Student Representative Council were sworn in at a special assembly.
Our choir treated us to a special performance too.
Band Performance Evening
What a fantastic night! A huge shout-out and congratulations to the Ensemble Band and all the students for your amazing first performance. It was great to see your talent and enthusiasm shine on stage.
A special thank you to our CAPA captains, Zoe G and Zoe S, for your awesome leadership and for hosting the evening so well. You made sure everything went smoothly and helped make the night really special.
Harmony Day
A big thank you to everyone who wore orange for Harmony Day! It’s awesome to see you all helping to celebrate diversity and respect in our school. Wearing orange shows you care about getting along and making everyone feel welcome. Your support really makes a difference and reminds us how great it is to be different. Thanks for coming together and making Harmony Day so meaningful!
APRIL
K-6 Cross Country Carnival
What a fantastic day we had for our K-6 Cross Country carnival! Blessed with beautiful weather, the event was a resounding success, showcasing the determination, resilience, and team spirit of all our students. Every runner gave their best effort, and we are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and sportsmanship displayed by every participant.
Easter Hat Parade and Raffle
Wow! There were some seriously impressive hats in our parade.
A big thank you to all who bought raffle tickets raising over $1000. Well done Yr 6 for all your efforts.
Congratulations to all our winners; enjoy your Easter Baskets.
ANZAC Day Commemorative Services
our Year 6 Leaders demonstrated exceptional leadership and respect while leading the school ANZAC Service. We were privileged to have Peter McKaskill and Frank Peterson from the Forestville RSL Sub-Branch join us, sharing meaningful stories that enriched the assembly. Our leaders also shared their reflections on ANZAC Day’s significance, encouraging everyone to think about its meaning today.
Ella, Lucas, and Bruce represented Terrey Hills with distinction at the ANZAC Day Service at Frank Beckman Reserve. Speaking confidently to a large crowd, they expressed what ANZAC Day means to them, emphasising respect for those who served and the enduring values of loyalty, self-sacrifice, and courage embodied by the original ANZACs. Their reflections reminded us how generations continue to measure their achievements against those of these soldiers.
We thank our student leaders for being excellent ambassadors and helping us all honour this significant day.
MAY
Narrabeen Coastal Environment Centre
Our Yr 6 and their Kindy buddies travelled to Narrabeen where they explored the diverse coastal habitats, learnt about local plants, animals, and the importance of environmental conservation. Year 6 students took on leadership roles, guiding their Kindergarten buddies through interactive exhibits and hands-on activities. The group participated in a beach art, clay sculptures and an engaging drama presentation, discovering how small actions can make a big difference in preserving our natural waterways that feed our oceans.
Project Penguin
Stage 3 students visited Little Manly and Collins Beach as part of their Project Penguin program. The program is designed to raise awareness and help conserve the Little Penguin colonies in the area with the support of mentor students from Mackellar High School.
The visit to Manly was highly engaging with groups investigating various natural and human threats to the penguins. This included exploring a model of the area's catchment and noting the pathway of pollutants, discussing the effect of microplastics and planting native grasses.
Debating begins!
A huge well done to THPS Royals—Kelani, Keeva, Lucas and Bruce—and THPS Gold—Scarlett, Orson, Elyse and Josh—for your fantastic efforts in the first round of the Premier’s Debating Competition against Turramurra Public School.
Although the result wasn’t in our favour this time, we are incredibly proud of how you represented our school. You worked hard to structure your points in a cohesive manner and showed impressive skill in developing your rebuttals. Your teamwork, perseverance and growth as debaters were clear to see, and you should all feel very proud of your achievements.
Home Sport - Pickle ball and tennis
Our Home sport group have been working in on their tennis skills with the team from Evolve tennis academy.
Students have spent a term honing their skills in short tennis and pickleball.
We were able to bring in Evolve as we were awarded a Sporting Schools Grant from the Federal Government.
Stage 3 Project Penguin - Taronga Zoo visit
This week our Year 5 & 6 students visited Taronga Zoo as part of the Project Penguin Assignment. They are tasked with coming finding an issues and coming up with a solution to aid our Little Penguins in Manly
Zone Cross Country Carnival
It was a soggy, wet day at the zone cross country carnival.
We fielded a large team who all braved the weather with a smile. Shout out to all our teachers, parents and students who enjoyed the day in the rain!
